I have always struggled with weight and when I did lose it was by starving myself and using drastic measures. By the time I was 29 I had five kids in 10 years and my weight hit 215lbs. That was when I contacted Poppy for my macros. I knew I needed to lose the weight but I also wanted to be healthy. And that's what I love about macros. It is a very balanced diet. I've lost 55lbs so far and still going strong!! :) I love this lifestyle and am so thankful to be a part of it !! ~ Sarah P. |
I have learned what fat loss actually looks like. Before Poppy, I was so number focused "lose the most I can the fastest" and got so frustrated when I couldn't lose that last "15" pounds. I was down to eating 1300 calories, with no energy. I was always tired.
I finally reached out to Poppy who told me the truth about fat loss. Eat the most you can while still losing weight. Don't put all of your trust in scale weight! It can't show you what's actually changing on macros. I'm still not at my goal body but instead I'm learning to focus on self love and now I feel I have all the right tools I need to get the job done.

In 2012 I was eating "clean", not drinking soda or eating fast food. I was desperately trying to get my health under control without the use of fad diets. Struggling with PCOS, pre-diabetes, and chronic pancreatitis, I was told by one doctor to limit my carbs intake and buy another doctor to limit my fat intake. I was lost and confused while trying to do the right thing. I kept thinking "there's got to be a better way". I pulled myself up by my bootstraps once again to attempt to lose the fluctuating weight I gained. Lose 10 pounds, gain it back. Lose 15 then gain it back was the story of my life. Eat 1500 calories and do lots of cardio until you get so frustrated and just plain hungry, you cave. My sister prayed with me over this struggle in the fall and spoke many declarations over my life and this journey. She prayed for clarity and a few months later I got just that. I found out about IIFYM!! No, this isn't a quick fix. I've busted my butt meticulously measuring everything to the gram, putting together my meals like a complicated jigsaw but I totally get it now! You can't eat 1500 cal of randomness and expect results. I started doing something I actually liked and have lost 25lbs in the process! Powerlifting, HIIT, CrossFit, anything but running! Yes it's hard, but yes it works! |
I have learned what my body needs. I understand nutrition labels and know if it's good or not for my goals. Just knowing that has become so freeing and I feel like I will never be on another "diet". The freeing feeling and knowledge macros has given me is far more than a number on the scale. I feel physically and mentally better than ever. ~ Brandi G. |
I'm a success story in progress, but I know macros is for life!! I have been doing Macros since October 2015...down a total of 45lbs so far! When I came on board I was basically not eating so my body would store what I did eat. My loss has been with very little physical exercise because I am in need of two new knees. With my current loss I am now able to go to the pool. Macros have become a way of life!! I know the process works!!! ~ Kathy M. |
Since starting macros my entire relationship with food and the way I view my body has changed. Even when I have a rough day or two, my eating habits are different than they were. I appreciate my body more than ever. I work out hard, I've gotten faster when I run, and I know it's because I'm fueling my body properly. Macros are game changer for me! ~ Erin B. |
I look at food as fuel for the first time. I am a Health and Wellness Director, group fitness instructor, personal trainer and never looked at food as fuel. Just as a reward for working hard in my workouts. I am not near as fatigued, my body recovers faster, and I feel better about getting up in front of a class because I am confident in my own body. ~ Ashton C. |
Before I discovered macros, I thought about food in terms of "good" or "bad." Now, I think about feeling lean and strong. I've learned that food = fuel and I need it to be healthy, strong and to build/maintain muscle and burn fat.
Also, food is freaking delicious and why should I deprive myself based upon rules from "diets" that aren't sustainable? Macros = life. Buy a food scale, plan ahead, have an open mind and you'll love macros too.
